Q: How long have I been doing glass?
I began in 1978 and trained with the Nelson Family of glassblowers in Virginia City, Nevada. I am the only non-family member they have taught. However, we feel like family since my maiden name is Nelson and we seem to share similar looks.
Q: Is it glass and how hot is it?
Yes, it is glass and not plastic, Pyrex® or Duran®. When I work with the glass, it can reach temperatures of approximately 1,100 degrees.
Q: Have I ever burnt myself?
Yes, only once though… that was enough to teach me respect for the torch’s flame at all times!
Q: Do I do special requests?
Yes! I work with the client or corporation for that special or specific item(s).
Q: What inspired your logo?
Many people ask how I came up with my logo. It is a simple story: I decided to go for a walk one afternoon after a light rain. Looking down into a puddle I saw a smile looking back at me… it was a brooch. I picked it up, laughed and knew I would use it for my logo. People always remember a smile.
